In March this year we started a fund raising campaign to raise £65k.

This amount would enable our charity to purchase an especially adapted bus. We could then untie our charity from  an expensive annual contract with Devon County Council, allowing us more independence, which in turn would be of advantage to local disabled people. When bought, the bus will enable us to take more  elderly and less abled people shopping and on trips to the seaside and other attractions, greatly enhancing the service we currently offer.

Since March, we have been running various fund raising events, and a special mention must be given to the landlady and generous patrons of the Royal Oak Nadderwater, local businesses, service providers, local politicians, charitable trusts and individual donors.

Not only did we reach the £65k target, but we raised a total of £73k.This great news has been fortunate as the cost of the bus has risen by £4k since our initial quote. The extra funds means that we can order Air Conditioning at a cost of £3k, to keep our passengers comfortable in the hot weather.

We have paid the deposit, and there is a 3 month wait from the coach builders, this means that we hope to take possession of the new bus, and run our revised service from either the end of December, or early January.

We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of those that contributed to this campaign and look forward to the introduction of the new bus.
